PACO is currently the largest subconsultant on the program management team led by URS Corporation; PACO leads or supports all key program management functions for this endeavor.
Project Overview. The East Side Access will connect the Long Island Railroad (LIRR) to Grand Central Terminal, on the east side of Manhattan, by the construction of a new LIRR terminal in the underlying rock beneath Grand Central Terminal, LIRR tracks currently end at Pennsylvania station on the west side. The project will utilize the existing 63rd street tunnel running under the east river between Manhattan and Queens. The tunnel will connect Sunnyside Yard in Queens to Grand Central Terminal in Manhattan via an extension running beneath Park Avenue. The construction includes 7 miles of tunnels, over 3.5 route mile, a new Sunnyside Station and upgradem 50,000 feet of new track and 5 new entrances at Grand Central Terminal.
