PACO, as a subconsultant to the Downtown Partnership (a joint venture between DMJM+Harris and STV, Inc.) , is providing cost estimating services for the final design of the WTC Transportation Hub.
Project Overview. The Port Authority of New York & New Jersey, in cooperation with the US Department of Transportation through the Federal Transit Administration is building the $2.21 Billion, 800,000 sf WTC Transportation Hub. This full-service, regional transportation hub will serve as the centerpiece of a transportation network that links New Jersey to downtown Manhattan, and will seamlessly link PATH service with most of the downtown subway lines and the Battery Park City ferry terminal.
Designed to serve approximately 250,000 pedestrians per day, the new transportation hub is a critical component of the WTC redevelopment and Lower Manhattan’s revitalization. Designed as a green structure by the Downtown Design Partnership (DMJM Harris & STV) in association with world-famous architect Santiago Calatrava, the hub features a glass roof with ribbed arches that allow sunlight to filter down to the interior of the building. It will be climate-controlled and fully ADA compliant and will feature 200,000 sf of retail and restaurants; enhanced permanent PATH facilities incorporating 3 full-service extended 10-car platforms, five tracks to provide safe, reliable operations that will accommodate projected travel demand; a multi-storied Transit Hall; and an integrated network of underground pedestrian concourses connecting to NYC Transit downtown subway lines, the WTC Memorial, and the World Financial Center.
