The Amtrak Accessible Stations Development Program (ASDP) is a nationwide initiative to upgrade passenger rail stations and bring them into compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), improving accessibility for travelers with disabilities across Amtrak’s network. Supported by federal funding, including the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), the program encompasses station assessments, design, construction, and post-construction evaluations to remove accessibility barriers and enhance passenger experiences. Through improvements such as accessible platforms, ramps, parking, wayfinding, boarding equipment, and passenger
information systems, Amtrak aims to achieve full accessibility compliance at all stations under its responsibility by 2029.
