The MTA New York City Transit Rockaway Line serves as a critical transportation link between mainland Queens and the Rockaway peninsula. This project involved extensive rehabilitation and upgrade efforts to improve the resilience and functionality of key infrastructure along the line. Work included the design and construction of viaduct rehabilitation at the Hammels Wye Campus, as well as repairs along both the east and west branches of the line.
Additional project elements focused on enhancing system reliability and resilience, including the design and installation of flood mitigation measures at multiple locations along the corridor. The project also included the construction of a new signal tower, installation of a track crossover at Beach 105th Street Station, and associated traction power, signal systems, and utility upgrades. Furthermore, electrical and mechanical components of the South Channel Bridge were replaced to ensure continued safe and efficient operations.
