The MIC/MIA Connector Automated Guideway Transit (AGT) System, known as the Miami Mover, was developed to provide an efficient, fully automated transportation link between Miami International Airport (MIA) and the Miami Intermodal Center (MIC). The project supports improved passenger and employee mobility while reducing roadway congestion within the airport terminal area by centralizing ground transportation functions, including a consolidated rental car facility, parking garages, and park-and-ride services. The MIC also provides seamless connections to the regional commuter rail system, enhancing multimodal access and supporting long-term airport operations and regional transportation integration.
The Miami Mover AGT system serves both air passengers and airport employees, offering a reliable, high-capacity, and fully automated transit solution. By relocating rental car operations and ground transportation services away from the terminal area, the project significantly reduced traffic congestion, improved circulation, and enhanced the overall passenger experience at MIA. The system plays a critical role in supporting long-term airport growth and regional mobility by integrating air travel with multimodal ground transportation options in the greater Miami area.
